European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Founded in 1975, ESMO has European roots and a global reach; they welcome oncology professionals from around the World. ESMO provides an educational resource platform that supports an integrated, multi-professional approach to cancer treatment.
Editorial Content, Branding, Design and Digital Building
ESMO communicates digitally on events, news, resources and deadlines yet they did not have one single all encompassing voice which allowed them to bring the brand and corporate values together in one channel.
The objective was to find an appropriate channel to provide regular communication with members/non-members and really be ‘The Voice’ of ESMO. The ultimate goal being to increase membership and event participation.
TMC researched the most suitable digital platforms to find a very versatile content platform with more than fifteen key features. The system is fully responsive, the magazine can be built off-line to enable full review and approval prior to launch.
TMC worked closely with ESMO to develop the name and branding for the digital magazine, the brand needed to sit in parallel with the main ESMO branding. Whist the magazine name, needed to convey the society voice, the people and the stories behind ESMO.
The brand new digital magazine, ESMO Perspectives was launched in December 2016. Initially sent as an eCampaign to a pre-defined database, then housed on the ESMO website. The magazine reached an amazing audience of 44,551. A high number of non-members have registered (509 as of January 2017), this meets the objective of potential conversion of new ESMO members.
The first edition of the digital magazine has been a resounding success, positive feedback has been received internally from key ESMO Board Members and external professionals. Statistics are gathered through Instant Magazine, HubSpot and Google Analytics, this enables us to analyse the visits per page, the length of time a user is on a particular page this has enabled us to refine the editorial plan for the second edition to ensure we maintain reader engagement.
TMC are currently working on the rollout of ESMO Perspectives, to be published throughout 2017 and 2018.
