Pocket Guidelines Series
Developing scientific content through a series of visually engaging publications for ESMO’s annual Congress since 2012. In recent years, 3D visualisation techniques have been adopted to provide a more impactful design solution.
The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) is the leading professional organisation for medical oncology, with 20,000 members representing oncology professionals from over 150 countries worldwide.
The ESMO Pocket Guidelines provide an abridged version of ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG’s). These Pocket Guidelines highlight the most important content on the management of urogenital cancers based on the updates to the European CPG’s.
TMC’s team of expert medical writers have been responsible for the development of the scientific content for the ESMO Pocket Guidelines for over ten years. Collaborating with ESMO’s Scientific projects and publishing team, we plan content and update the Pocket Guidelines alongside the design and production each year.
Our Solution
Our medical writers commence the project by liaising with ESMO’s Scientific Projects and Publishing team, to plan which Pocket Guidelines will be produced based on the updates to the European Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG’s).
Once the CPG’s have been submitted to Annals of Oncology, the manuscript is then used to form the basis of each Pocket Guideline and an initial draft is produced for review by ESMO and the Subject Editors.
As TMC have continued to evolve the design of the ESMO Pocket Guidelines, our Studio team have adopted 3D Visualisation techniques to provide a more impactful and versatile design solution. Each suite is given a distinct visual identity that is consistent with ESMO brand guidelines, which is then brought to life through carefully considered colour combinations and designs.
In recent years an App was developed, allowing delegates to download digital versions of the guides. Allowing for the content to be easily digested on devices, our 3D team developed an interactive element that added new dimensions to the designs, bringing to life shapes and colours through technology.
